Violation Description: An inquiry by the Charity Commission into Families for Survival UK & Save the Age Ltd found that the trustees listed for both charities were false and obtained through identity theft. The charities had been hijacked for non-charitable purposes, including taking payment from non-UK residents who would then by paid back to them in the guise of fundraiser wages, entitling them to government benefits. Two trustees were convicted of fraud related offences, and Save the Age was struck off the register as no longer operating. Families for Survival was dissolved by a new board of trustees.
